MICHAEL POTOCHNY

MICHAEL POTOCHNY

As an Associate Attorney at Gaydos Law, P.C., Michael R. Potochny (“Mike”), a proud native of Western Pennsylvania, guides clients through all stages of the complicated litigation process. Having worked with the firm since 2014, Mike has represented clients in need by appearing in arbitration, civil, domestic, magisterial, orphans’, and tax appeal divisions for matters ranging from adoptions to enforcement of mechanic’s liens and contract defense.

Although Mike has successfully litigated outcomes in Pennsylvania State and Federal courts, he recognizes that litigation is not always in the client’s best interest, and he takes pride in his ability to quickly assess cases so that his clients can make informed, educated decisions. Outside of the courtroom, Mike spends a considerable amount of time negotiating settlements so that his clients can move forward confidently toward the next chapter of life.

Mike additionally devotes a portion of his practice to estate planning and transactional work, and he regularly guides young parents through, among other things, the process of nominating potential guardians for their minor children. In situations where individuals are no longer capable of executing powers of attorney, Mike serves a wide range of clients through guardianship proceedings where empathy, and an ability to arrive at creative solutions, often lead to favorable outcomes for all parties of interest.

Mike’s prior experience with the Pennsylvania Superior Court as a judicial clerk serves him well at
Gaydos Law, P.C. His clerking experience with the appellate court gave him the opportunity to sharpen his legal research and writing skills while allowing him to thoroughly understand the considerations given by our appellate courts in deciding cases.

Mike, a proud alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, earned dual bachelor’s degrees in English and Communications/Rhetoric before he returned to graduate with his law degree. Mike is admitted to practice in the highest court of the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in addition to the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Mike lives in the South Hills with his wife, Alyssa, daughter, Elle, and one Shih Tzu, Wyatt. When he is not in the office or courtroom, Mike enjoys spending time with friends and family, supporting the Pittsburgh Pirates, and playing tennis.
